WiFi on a train!

17 June 2006

At the moment I am sat on a GNER train from Leeds to London Kings Cross and they’ve got Wifi on board the train! The wifi signal is very good and the net connectivity is zipping along, best of all they have a promo code to use it for free (normally £4.95 per hour).

I’ve been on the train for about two hours now and I’ve managed to get loads of work done as a result. I can’t wait until this rolls out across all long distance train services in the UK, I’d also like it if I could get Wifi cheaper if I paid for it at the same time as I bought my ticket.

Well done GNER. Go here to see more details.

Isn't train WiFi great! Used it myself travelling between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross to write by own blog post whilst whizzing past field of sheep - very bizarre! I agree that the service is quite expensive though, and yes a discount when buying train tickets would be appreciated. The service was better when it was free..
