The joys of being self-employed

23 November 2006

I’m on my way down to see my main client at the moment, at a meeting arranged for just south of Leeds by the M62. I should really have known that a journey which normally takes 20 minutes on a good day was going to take at least 40 minutes and I’m not even on the M621 yet.

Everyone in the cars around me at the moment has a cut throat look on their face, like if you got in their way they’d just run you straight down without a second thought.

For me though it’s somewhat of a novelty and a great chance to play very loud music.

This “commute” further vindicates my choice to work for myself, walking from the bedroom to the office for my morning commute can be measured in single digit seconds…

Update: In the end it took me almost 1 and a half hours to drive the 12 miles down to Junction 27 of the M62.

    Bring back the bicycle!

Andy: I do actually have a bike! I do really wish I had more places to ride it, unfortunately I haven't had any work local enough to ride it. I have entertained the idea of riding it down to town before - but I've seen how hair-raising it is to ride a bike in the centre of Leeds. Let alone all the nefarious people waiting to nick it when you chain it up...
